Unacceptable to the establishment

Christ, Anthony Burgess wrote, was ‘…figuratively if not necessarily literally, a speaker of a dialect that the establishment would not accept… [his] lips have been opened and he is revealed as a credible Scot of the Lowlands….With the Scots version of the New Testament the subversiveness of of the Christian message seems to be restored’.
