A 1964 flexi disc recording — for the Book Society — of Burgess discussing Shakespeare. The eBay seller writes: ‘Burgess says modern people are too lazy to properly open our ears to the wonder of Shakespeare and are dulled to the power of language by the clichés of pop lyric slush….Burgess tries to place Shakespeare as human, a man who wrote for money; not a literary “monster and icon”, rather “a common man with a vast irrelevant talent strapped to his back”. He closes by reciting…Sonnet 116.’
